Mass Panic in bottleneck tunnel at Loveparade in Duisburg, Germany!

Entrance tunnel closure leaves 21 dead and dozens injured in a mass panic at 19th Loveparade in Duisburg, Germany.

Tragical accident or foreseeable deaths in a planned bottleneck, to finally get rid of an unwanted mass phenomenon?

About 1,4 million people wanted to join the party. The single entrance through a small tunnel was closed after about 500000 ravers were filling the party area.

All people should pass this tunnel to enter the festival area.

Tunnel closure at party entrance created mass panic as more and more people were entering the tunnel from behind.

People trying to escape the trap.

Tragical accident or planned chaos?

Communists help conservative candidate to presidency in Germany!

After the abrupt resignation of former president Horst Köhler one month ago, Christian Wulff, the 51-year-old governor of Lower Saxony state and a deputy leader of chancellor Merkel's conservative party has been elected as president of Germany today.

The bland candidate of the conservative-liberal coalition government was elected with simple majority after more than nine hours in the third and final voting round. Wulff failed to secure an absolute majority in the first two voting rounds, which comes as an embarrassing loss of face for chancellor Angela Merkel, who had promoted his candidacy.

In the end Wulff could only be elected, because the radical left wing party, which emerged from the former East-German Communist stateparty 'SED', abstained from voting Joachim Gauck, a well known former East-German civil rights activist and investigator on crimes perpetrated by the infamous East-German secret service 'Stasi'. Gauck had been promoted by Social Democrats and Greens and enjoyed higher support in the German population.

It is the first time, that the representative position of the German president has been filled with a professional career politician. Wulff is considered to be a close friend and aide of German chancellor Angela Merkel.

Happy New Year 2067 !

Nepal enters the year 2067 B.S. with difficult challenges still unsolved.

After a year of stagnation, in which the only agenda of the ruling parties was to stop the Maoists from returning to power, the new year carries the hope to bring about a solution to the political situation of Nepal.

Pressing problems are awaiting their proper solution, the most important being the integration of the rebel militia into the army and the civil society. To formulate a constitution is the second big task on the agenda. Both subjects are interconnected and without a proper management of the militia no constitution can successfully be written.

The current government seems to be unwilling to let either problem find a solution, which makes it very unlikely that this government will last long. While obviously enjoying the support and guidance of some of the international players the current government is in the end not governing at all but just participating in the international policy of angering the Maoists until they either split or make a grave mistake, which would allow to blame them for the failure of the peace process.

May all responsible people in Nepal stand united to find a peaceful outlet for this difficult situation.

We wish a happy New Year 2067 to all Nepali people!

Watch the Children of God!

Children of God
Korea/Nepal 2008
Directed by Yi Seung-Jun
89 Minutes,
Nepali Documentary w/subtitles

click on pic to read more about the movie

Children of God explores the life of the children who live in Pashupatinath, beside the Baghmati River in Nepal - on the sacred grounds of a Hindu temple in Kathmandu an area forgotten and ignored by the world, but considered the holiest and most sacred to the Nepalese people.

The children are undeterred by the daily cries and wailing from the daily funeral ceremonies; instead they rob the corpses for food and dive into the river to grab coins used as funeral offerings by the mourners. Some risk their lives by begging while others fall prey to drugs and disease.

The film exposes the social conditions of the suppressed Nepalese people through the plight of their children, where reverence for the old and dead far outweighs the care for the young and living. Experiencing their innocence and their hardship through songs, stories and heartbreaking living conditions, exposes the contradiction of the material world that rests upon perhaps the most spiritual culture on earth.
